We are proud to present a new LM3X projection mapping case study from the historic main square of Tokaj, Hungary — a town located in the heart of the world-famous Tokaj Wine Region.
For this project, the projection mapping installation was divided into two connected parts: the main projection on the church facade and a complementary projection on the adjacent historic building. Together, both projection surfaces created one continuous visual story inspired by the history, culture, and winemaking tradition of the Tokaj region.
The main theme of the mapping was the history of the Tokaj wine region. The visual content worked with architectural details of the square and transformed the buildings into a dynamic canvas for storytelling, atmosphere, and cultural presentation.
The first part of the installation focused on the Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, located directly on Tokaj’s main square. For this projection, we used two LM3X LUMIBOX™ units connected to Panasonic PT-MZ20 projectors.
Both projectors were placed behind the windows of the opposite building, allowing the projection system to remain discreetly hidden while still delivering a powerful and precisely aligned image onto the church facade.
This setup delivered a projection performance comparable to an LM3X LAZR 20K™ solution, combining high-brightness projection with the flexibility of the LUMIBOX™ media server workflow.
The church became the main visual element of the square, presenting the central part of the story about Tokaj’s historic wine culture, local heritage, and the unique atmosphere of the region.

The second part of the installation continued on the historic building next to the church. Here, we used four LM3X LAZR 4G™ projection mapping projectors.
The projection on this adjacent building was designed to connect directly with the church mapping and visually extend the story across the square. Instead of working as a separate projection, this part complemented the main show and helped create a wider immersive experience for visitors.
Each LAZR 4G™ projector delivers 6,000 ANSI lumens and integrates the Lumiverse™ projection mapping workflow, making it suitable for precise architectural mapping, multi-projector installations, and outdoor visual storytelling.
By combining the church projection with the LAZR 4G™ projection on the neighboring building, the main square was transformed into a larger projection environment, where multiple architectural surfaces worked together as one visual composition.
